This time around I celebrate B-movies. First I'm grokking in fullness the 1954 Hawaii based film noir Hell's Half Acre starring Wendell Corey and Evelyn Keyes. Then we smash-cut to 1960 for the crime caper movie Seven Thieves starring Edward G. Robinson, Rod Steiger, Eli Wallach and Joan Collins. I also tell you about a dream I had and about how I robbed Crown Casino last night.

For 141 I look at a couple of westerns starring Marlene Dietrich. Firstly there's 1939's Destry Rides Again starring James Stewart and Brian Donlevy and then 1952's Rancho Notorious directed by Fritz Lang and also starring Arthur Kennedy and Mel Ferrer.

This time around Armin Heinecke and I examine a couple of very different films noir from 1949 - Anthony Mann's low budget noir set during the French revolution, Reign Of Terror (a.k.a. The Black Book) starring Robert Cummings and Arlene Dahl and one of the classic noirs, Robert Siodmak's Criss Cross starring Burt Lancaster, Yvonne De Carlo and Dan Duryea.

This time around I'm looking at Australian dicks. Not phalluses but good honest Australian detectives starting out with 1975's Scobie Malone starring Jack Thompson and Judy Morris then a decade later looking at the adaptation of Peter Corris'Cliff Hardy novel The Empty Beach starring Bryan Brown and Anna Maria Monticelli. Enjoy!

Paleo-Cinema Podcast 138 - Miss Jane's Selection

This time around the movies were selected by Miss Jane as part of the Paleo-Cinema Patreon Campaign. The first movie is a 1933 comedy/drama starring Lionel and John Barrymore, Wallace Beery and Jean Harlow: Dinner At Eight. The second movie is the film thought to be the funniest American comedy of all time, the Billy Wilder directed Some Like It Hot, with Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon.

I also look at the strange and cinematic death of French jazz musician and polymath Boris Vian.

For 134 we have two truckin' movies: the 1953 classic Henri-Georges Clouzot thriller Le Salaire De La Peur (Wages Of Fear) and the 1958 American remake of it, Warner Bros Violent Road starring Brian Keith and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. One is among the best thrillers of all time and the other is an honest B-picture dishonestly copied from the former.
